Hello, 24 Hour Theatre Project Actors and Parents!

This event is sponsored by Sherrill Manufacturing. Thank you Sherrill Manufacturing!!!!

I am very excited for tomorrow's event. Parents you need to sign a form. Please arrive a few minutes early to do so. If your actor is driving themselves, then we will send home the forms. Please return Tuesday at Noon. ACTORS YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE! Even if you have a car. Think of it as a lock down. If you leave, you will not be able to return.  There are no refunds after noon on Monday, December 29th.

Please read the following information carefully and share it with your parents. Please feel free to call me or email me with any questions at 917-691-1503 and missvicsdrama@yahoo.com.

The first thing you need to do is ADVERTISE! I am sending you an attachment of the flier. Please email it to EVERYONE you know. We want to play for an audience. You are welcome to print out the flier and hang it up anywhere you get permission. Contact your friends and neighbors and have them come and support you.

The audience will be given a reception in the lobby of Holy Cross Academy starting at 11pm, Tuesday, December 30th. There will be coffee, tea, and desert. the performance is at midnight. The audience will count down when we have 24 seconds remaining. The seating is general admission and ticket prices are a donation at the door. The website has more information about donations. This event is a fundraiser for our theatre.

Where to go- the Acting Studios are located in Sherrill Manufacturing Building in Sherrill, NY. It is the old Oneida Limited Factory Building. It is across the street from the Pizzeria. If you are coming from Oneida on Rt 5 take a left at the light and then a left into the gate. We are the first green door on your right. We will have a sign and people outside directing you.

Those of you that are familiar with the Drama Room- will be using the Lounge as an additional rehearsal room.

PARENTS- because we have a very large group participating, we need all the rehearsal room we can get. We ask that you please do not wait around at the Drama Room. If you wish to register for new classes, there will be a registration table at the event on Tuesday evening. You are welcome to drop off food during the day. More information about food below.

FOOD- You need to eat and drink all day to stay healthy and productive. Please bring LOTS of water. More than you think you will need!!! Eat before you come. we do not have a refrigerator or a microwave. I suggest bringing a small cooler labeled with your items (it would be good to team up with a friend) if you have perishable foods. Some great food options- FRUIT!, cereal bars, pretzels, popped popcorn, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. We will all take a dinner break at 6pm sharp on Monday. Parents wishing to drop off food should do so, 15 minutes prior. There will not be a united dinner break on Tuesday. Actors will eat  while they are working. Bring more food than you think that you will need. You will be working hard.

DRESS- you will either be very cold or very hot. Wear layers! Be comfortable. Wear footwear appropriate for rehearsal. Clogs and flip-flops are never a good choice. Either are heavy boots. DO NOT WEAR STOCKING OR BARE FEET!

MATERIALS- Bring a folder and/or binder and pencil. You will be given a script and will need to take notes or create. You might want to bring scrap paper for yourselves. Label everything so you know it is yours.

PARKING- those of you with cars, you can park in the parking lot.

TUESDAY- Tuesday's schedule is a little different. We will rehearse at the Drama Room until 8pm. At 8pm we will move to our performance space at Holy Cross Academy on Barrington Road in Oneida. This is a rented facility and we ask all performers to be on their best behavior (including Holy Cross students). You are representing the Drama Room. Please do not go into lockers (even if it is yours) or classrooms (even if it is yours) without permission from me. We are going to have a designated area for rehearsal and pre-show prep. Be respectful and smart actors.

Please find a ride to Holy Cross Academy. Parents coming for pick up should arrive at five of eight. Car pooling is best. We would be more than willing to help you find a ride if you need it.

There will be a phone tree given out to each actor tomorrow. Please feel free to use the tree to discuss rides for Tuesday.

After drop off at HCA, parents are asked to please leave. The doors will reopen at 10:45pm with the reception starting at 11pm. The "theatre" will open at 11:30pm for seating. Holy Cross has limited seating and can get quite warm with many bodies. Dress coolly.

ACTORS- PROMPTLY at noon you will receive a script. This has been primarily written by me with additional dialogue and ideas from Drama Room college students. Music will be taught by Miss Feldman and created with Steve Laureti (Oneida alumni). Since this a new work, we will be modifying dialogue as we go along but ONLY for grammatical errors. Content of the piece will not be changed. There are opportunities for some creative flexibility. Due to time, the script is non-negotiable. The parts you are given will be cast by me. I have seen every single one of you audition recently or perform for me in the past. That was my basis. Parts are non-negotiable. As with any production, you will get out what you put in. It is that simple. For example, if you are narrator, you can chose to just say the lines or you can choose to create a character that is an 80 year old Hispanic immigrant from Latin America who wishes they were an American movie star and walk with a limp from a tragic accident at birth. See my point?

This is a more serious piece and may not be suitable for very young audiences.
